It’s been a Long Haul…. that Continues
It was a long 2020 and now 2021. Reflecting on it makes me realize that we have all been through the same pandemic storm together but depending on where you were in the storm or the tint of your glasses, you experienced the pandemic differently.
I’ve been in a tornado. I’ve been in a hurricane. I’ve been in an earthquake; very small I didn’t even know it. My list and yours could go on, but the thing that’s different from the pandemic storm is that your list will have things I haven’t experienced, and my list will have things you haven’t experienced. But the pandemic storm was experienced on every continent in the world to different degrees and it continues.
For some the pandemic storm is physical, for some the pandemic storm is emotional, and for some the pandemic storm is something I don’t even know how to describe yet. For some the pandemic storm is nothing to worry about, “What’s the big deal?” All these different pandemic storms are right because they are our opinions and feelings. So be kind, everyone is in a different place in the pandemic storm. If a vaccine will make you emotionally and physically safer in your pandemic storm, do it. If you are against vaccines, don’t do it. What other people do really isn’t our business, unless what we do effects other people’s decisions to do what they need to do to be comfortable. We all have opinions which lead us to our decisions. That’s the great thing about opinions, they are our opinions, and we all get to have them. We don’t get to make other people have our opinions. Please be respectful of everyone’s opinions and we will all get through this pandemic storm one way or another. Peace to you.

Such timely and wise words to hear as families gather and we wonder how to gently and compassionately discuss our differing concerns about gathering. Thank you, Martha
